GOD'S TERM AND CONDITION FOR ALIFE PARTNER
<< God’s Term and Condition For Life Partner >>
Genesis 2:18-20
18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” 19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
In this passage, God has given Adam a free will to choose a suitable helper or a life partner through a unique way. God brought all the animals that lived on the ground and also the birds of the air to Adam. Adam was given the liberty to name the animals as he wished. There is a mystery here. God had created all the animals of the field, birds of the air and sea creatures of the ocean, but God only brought forth animals that live on the land and in the sky. What happened to the sea creatures? Mysteriously, they were not chosen by God as “suitable helper” for Adam. However, it is good news for Adam because if it is so, he had to be in the middle of the sea to name the fish one by one.
In the spiritual sense, sea is often referred to the world. Surely, God the Father will prepare the best for Adam, being the son of God. Likewise, even earthly fathers will choose the best for his children as life partners. I believe, in this first encounter, God only brought forth what was good for Adam since not everybody or anybody will be good as a life partner for Adam in the eyes of God. In this way, God is revealing His perfect will that good life partners are found only in the family of Christ and not from the world as they do not believe in the Gospel of Jesus’ baptism, death and resurrection which constitutes the absolute righteousness of God.
In Genesis 2:22, Adam met his perfect soul mate, Eve who was fashioned by God. “And the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man He made (fashioned, formed) into a woman, and He brought her and presented her to the man.” AMP
In Genesis 24:4, Abraham wanted his appointed servant to go to his own country and family in order to take a wife for Isaac. Abraham wanted his daughter-in-law neither among the Canaanites or other family but specifically from his own tribe and clan. For him, it’s an important task at his very old age even though the Lord had blessed him in all things. Despite his riches, Abraham focussed on his son Isaac to ensure that he marries a wife of the same faith. He was so uncompromising on this important issue to the extent that he forced his servant to swear in order that he fulfils his heart’s desire.
Genesis 24:1-4
Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.2 So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, who ruled over all that he had, “Please, put your hand under my thigh, 3 and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell; 4 but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”
Dear friends, as believers in the Gospel of water and the Spirit that represents Jesus’ baptism, death and resurrection, we must yoke ourselves with those of the same faith. According to God’s will, as we grow old as life partners, we are to grow stronger in the faith together. Avoid going to the deep sea (world) to fish for a suitable helper. The perfect one is always on the ground (church of God) waiting for you. If you can’t find yours, look to God as your source and He will prepare the best among the rest, one specially fashioned and designed for you.
2 Corinthians 6:14
14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
