 WHAT IS TO BE BORN AGAIN OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT ? - Jesus tells us in John 3:5, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” What, then, is the gospel of the water and the Spirit? The Bible tells us, first of all, that “water” refers clearly to the baptism of Jesus, and is the antitype of salvation (1 Peter 3:21). When Jesus turned 30, He went to John, who had been baptizing the people of Israel in the Jordan River. Jesus tells us that John the Baptist was the representative of the mankind and the last High Priest of the Old Testament.
